Happy Thursday! How has the week been so far? Fabulous I hope.
So today’s feature is all about gorgeous Yoruba Brides. I know we feature quite a lot of Yoruba stuff relative to other cultures, but that’s because there are just way more images out there. Like tons more. We are happy to feature more of other cultures so please send us an email with your images to – submissions [at] weddingfeferity [dot] com.
Back to today’s post. Traditional attires haven’t changed much since, well, 1960. Yoruba’s still wear iros and bubas, and Igbos still wear doubled george wrappers. Every now and again however, something new emerges….a new fabric, a new way of tying wrappers or a cooler length to wear wrappers.
And the geles haven’t been left out. Earlier this year, we saw brides bedazzling their headgears with sequins. Of recent, many Yoruba brides have said no to straight standard edge geles and turned it up with these beautiful Scalloped Geles featured below. How can you not love them?
Yoruba Brides wearing Scalloped Geles
This is the first time I’m seeing a pure white gele, and I really like it. This is also my favourite scalloped gele. I think it appeals to me the most because of how defined the edges are, which is obvious because of the simplicity of the fabric used. When there is too much detailing or embroidery going on, the gele could get too busy and the “scallopness” doesn’t stand out as much. Beautiful makeup by BMPro.

Yes, I know what you are thinking. Where are all these beautiful women in Nigeria? I think you should ask their makeup artists…..lol.
If you want to see more beautiful images for trad wedding ideas and inspiration for your attires, beads, colour combinations and more, then head over to our Yoruba Brides Photo gallery.
So will you be trying the scalloped gele anytime soon as a guest or bride? Let us know in the comment section below. This is one trend I’m definitely interested in. Let’s just hope it doesn’t become too random, as usual.

The best matching aso-oke to go with lemon green is pepper red. Or if u don’t want to look flashy. You shoulg. Go for fushial pink. Both blends perfectly. 07061082753. 267B145C

Perfect Makeup:
5 DON`T OF MAKE UP
A lot of us commit certain faux pas or if you like “no nos” in the application of our facial make-up. We hope these will be the beginning of wisdom for every Gem Woman.
1. Do not line you lips with dark coloured pencil unless you intend to use the same shade of lipstick. The difference in linear and lipstick accentuates the fine lines on the lips. A neutral lip liner makes a whole world difference for all shades of lipsticks.
2. Do not apply foundation, powder or eye shadow immediately after applying moisturizer. The wet base causes your make-up to run or slide. Always give your moisturizer at least 10 minutes to dry off before applying your cosmetics.
3. Do not use a concealer that is too light, as it would highlight blemishes or dark-spot, rather than conceal it. Always ensure your concealer is your exact shade or just a shade lighter than your colour.
4. Do not sculpt your cheekbones with brown powder, as this does nothing to enhance your features. Ensure you apply blush to your cheeks to achieve a natural effect. This highlights the hollows of your cheekbone.
5. Do not apply loud colours like orange for an everyday use, as this appears harsh and also ages the skin quickly. Choose neutral palettes such as brown, rose and beige. These colours make you face glow.
Practice they say make perfect, enjoy it.
